The very best of luck to both our adult hurling teams this weekend. We are all behind you.

What a year it has been for Bruree Mothers & Others.

A packed calendar of blitzes, and has become one of the most positive stories in the parish.

The group enjoyed a busy season on the road in 2026, playing in three major Mothers & Others blitzes in Éire Óg, Ennis, Buttevant in Cork, and Effin. The team also proudly hosted teams from Croom and Parteen in Bruree, with great afternoons of football, fun and friendship enjoyed by all.

But for the women involved, it is about far more than football.

Mothers & Others is open to all women — mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts and others — whether you have never kicked a ball before or are returning after many years away. It is non-competitive, no experience is needed, and the emphasis is on fitness, fun and community.

Players come for the exercise, but stay for the craic and the friendships. It's an hour a week that's just for women, and the benefits are both physical and mental.

The group would like to express sincere thanks to the Bruree Sportsfield Committee for the use of the Astro Turf in Bruree throughout the year. Having a safe, floodlit, all-weather facility on our doorstep has been vital in keeping training going. A massive thanks to Kieran O Dea, who trained us all year.

With nearly 30 registered players now involved, the group is hoping to build even further going into 2027. New members are always welcome — no boots, no fitness level, no experience required, just a willingness to have a go.

Training will resume in April 2027 and anyone interested in joining can contact the club via the Bruree Mothers and Others Instagram page .

If 2026 is anything to go by, the future is looking bright for 2027.
