Kilmallock was the venue for this mouth watering 4th round Premier Intermediate championship against near neighbours and rivals Dromin Athlacca and both sides didn't disappoint.It was Dromin Athlacca that got off to the perfect start within thirty seconds with a well taken goal. Bruree replied straight from the puckout when Tommy Cronolly won possession and picked out Michael Lane who took an excellent point from a tight angle.


Dromin Athlacca answered back with three points in a row, two from placed balls and one from play. Kieran O'Dea got Bruree's second point of the match from a free after Sam Cronolly was fouled. Dromin Athlacca hit back with a point of there own also from a placed ball. On eleven minutes a long ball in by captain Patrick Lane was won brilliantly by Sam Cronolly who then turned he's marker and riffled the ball into the top corner of the net.


From the puckout Dromin Athlacca won possession of there own and found there full forward who went through on goal, Kieran O'Rourke put in what looked like a perfect tackle but that whistle went and Dromin Athlacca were awarded a penalty. Up Stood David Reidy and he blasted the ball to the net to leave the score 2-04 To 1-02 in favour of Dromin Athlacca. Three minutes Kieran O'Dea was on the attack, He found Michael Lane inside who in turn found Sam Cronolly who struck he's and Bruree's second goal hitting the top corner of the net again. A fantastic move and finish by Bruree.


Both teams would exchange points both from sixty fives. Donal Deady won a free for Bruree and Kieran O'Dea made no mistake. Dromin Athlacca hit a point from play but it was Bruree that finished the first half the strongest with two Kieran O'Dea points from frees after James Vincent O'Brien was fouled and Dromin Athlacca Defender over carried the ball. This left the half time Score Bruree 2-06 Dromin Athlacca 2-06.


A huge second half was in store for both Teams and getting a good start was needed by the bruree players and they did'nt disappoint. From the throw in a long ball was played into Michael Lane who Brought the ball out and excellently found centre back Gerard O'Brien who took a fantastic point. Two minutes later it was Kieran O'Dea From a sixty five that extended Bruree's lead to two points. Dromin Athlacca struck a free to bring it back to the minimum.


Bruree had a brilliant chance of goal but Kieran O'Dea was denied by the Dromin Athlacca goalkeeper but Michael Lane won the ball from the save and took he's point again from a tight angle. With forty one minutes played bruree got there third goal when a long ball in found Michael Lane who was hauled down to the ground,the Referee immediately awarded a penalty and Kieran O'Dea despatched the ball to the back of the net. Some minutes later Tommy Cronolly extended Bruree's lead with a well taken point. Scoreline now read 3-10 To 2-07.


A Dromin Athlacca free closed the gap to five points. From the puckout Tommy Cronnolly won possession on the wing and even tho he was surrounded by Dromin Athlacca players he managed to find Patrick Deady who struck over the bar from distance for the best point of the match. Dromin Athlacca kept going and hit two points in a row to reduce the score back to four points.


Bruree replied with a Kieran O'Dea point from a free after Sam Cronolly was fouled to push the lead out to five points again. With Substitutes used in the second half by both teams and an injury to a Dromin Athlacca player there was going to be a good bit of stoppage time and it was Dromin Athlacca the finished the strongest, with 5 points from play to leave the final score Bruree 3-12 Dromin Athlacca 2-15. This was a brilliant performance from all the players and were they were very unlucky not to hold on for what would of been a deserved win.

Bruree play Mungret in Round 5 next Saturday August 17th In Mick Neville Park At 6.00pm. We'll done to all the players and Management team and the backroom team. A huge Thank you to all our supporters who were magnificent.
